Brooklyn Bridge Park, running along the waterfront from the Manhattan Bridge to Atlantic Avenue, provides extensive planted areas and recreational space with the typical parkland harborage patterns. Buildings on the streets immediately adjacent to the park — Front Street, Water Street — see elevated Norway rat pressure from the park margin. The park's construction on former industrial piers has created a complex infrastructure edge that influences the rodent environment along the waterfront.

The Manhattan Bridge approach overhead creates significant shadow infrastructure — the bridge support columns, access roads, and utility conduits that run through the neighborhood create underground connectivity and harborage that affects the buildings directly beneath and adjacent to the bridge structure. The converted industrial buildings of DUMBO have the same entry-point vulnerabilities as those in Williamsburg and Tribeca: original freight access thresholds, floor drains connected to sewer lines, and structural gaps in heavy timber construction that mice use to travel vertically.
